There is something quite special about casting off your lines, harnessing the forces of nature and experiencing the thrill of travelling under sail. On a sailing yacht, you look out at the world from a different perspective and feel a wonderful sense of freedom.
A sailing holiday in Scotland offers many contrasts: secluded anchorages and remote, uninhabited islands lie side by side with bustling fishing ports. Scotland’s dramatic history and distinctive culture are evident in the numerous ancient monuments and castles that pepper the Scottish landscape, nowhere more so than on the St Kilda archipelago, one of the most breathtaking destinations we might visit on our longer cruises.
Moonshadow Yacht Charter’s sailing holidays are deliberately flexible so that we can reflect the interests of our guests and, of course, the weather and tides. We hope that you will play an active part in the running of the yacht, which can involve anything from passage planning and weather forecasting to helming and drying the dishes. There’s always something for guests to do. You don’t need any previous sailing experience, but if you want to learn about sailing in Scotland, the Scottish culture, history or wildlife we’ll be delighted to share what we know.
With the sea air building healthy appetites, mealtimes are an important feature of any cruise. We generally plan a lunch-stop and are always in a safe anchorage before nightfall, when dinner is served. Daily trips ashore also allow guests to stretch their legs and explore some of the beautiful Scottish coastline.
Fresh air, fresh experiences and fresh food are a winning combination on all of our sailing holidays on Moonshadow and will leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed and invigorated.
