You will enjoy some exhilarating sailing and impressive bird and marine life as we cruise through the Hebrides towards the world heritage site of St Kilda. Our exact itinerary is weather dependent, but example landfalls are highlighted below.
In the Inner Hebrides, possible destinations are Mull, Coll, the Small Isles (Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna) and the Isle of Skye. We often encounter dolphins and minke whales in these waters and will be sailing close to Scotland’s basking shark hotspots.
In the Outer Hebrides we might visit Harris and the Shiants, Taransay, Scarp and the Monach Isles. Rafts of puffins are often seen off the islands, near to their cliff-top burrows.
Weather permitting, we will sail out to St Kilda and spend a night in Village Bay, where you will have the chance to go ashore and explore. Keep an eye out for the “bonxies” (great skuas); known as the pirates of the seas, they deliberately harass birds as large as gannets to steal a free meal.
In calm conditions we will circumnavigate the archipelago and get close to the incredible cliffs and sea stacs with their astounding gannet and fulmar colonies.
Please note that the exact itinerary for this cruise will depend on the weather and the safety, comfort and interests of guests. In all matters, the skipper’s decision is final.
